Important things to consider when choosing a machine include:

• Blade dimensions. Generally speaking, small hedges can be cut with a 46cm blade or less, medium hedges are best cut with a blade between 47cm and 56cm, and large hedges require a blade 57cm or longer. The width describes the size of the gap between teeth, indicating the maximum diameter that the hedge trimmer can cut.
• Power. Petrol powered hedge trimmers are cordless, making them much better for working away from power sources, and they tend to be more powerful. Electric models are more environmentally friendly and often much lighter, which makes a real difference if you are using the machine all day. Although cordless electric models are available, they are few and low-powered.
• Safety. For example: hand guard, automatic brake, and vibration reduction.
