A belt sander has a sanding belt which consists of abrasive paper that is looped around two drums that are then spun by a motor. This power tool quickly removes material and leaves a smooth surface.
A belt sander is generally used on wood and paint, however it can also be used on plastics. This power tool tends to have a very aggressive action on wood and is therefore mostly used in the first stages of the sanding process or for rapid stock removal. When used with fine grit sandpaper, belt sanders are capable of leaving a reasonably fine finish, however there are other sanders which may provide better finishes.
We supply a range of high quality belt sanders from Bosch and Makita, including the highly popular Makita 9404, which is available in a 110V or 240V version.
