Our experts have listed the most common causes that they see and how you can prevent them.

Using non-compatible nails.

Using other brand’s nails with your Paslode nail gun can cause a nail jam. As Paslode haven’t tested these third party nails, they can’t say whether they’re compatible or even safe to use with their nailers. That’s why Paslode recommend that you only use official Paslode nails with your nail gun. This ensures 100% compatibility and avoids compromising your nailer’s performance and warranty.

You should also make sure that you’re using the right Paslode nails for your specific Paslode model. Each Paslode model has its own specific type of nails. You can check which nails your model is compatible with on Paslode’s website.

Switching between different nail lengths.

If you don’t remove leftover nails of one length before switching to firing nails of a different length, then it can cause a nail jam. Always clear any leftover nails before switching to a different nail length.

Firing warped, damaged or damp nails.

If you fire warped, damaged or damp nails, then it can cause a nail jam. Paslode recommend that you store your nails flat in their original box to prevent them from becoming warped, damaged or damp. Don’t store your nails in your nail gun case!

Using split nail strips.

Paslode nails come in a long collated strip. If you put a split nail strip or multiple split nail strips in the nail magazine, then it can cause a nail jam. Put one full nail strip in the nail magazine at a time – don’t try to use smaller parts of a nail strip.

An obstruction in the material.

There can often be things, like other nails, behind the material you’re firing in to – some of which you might not be able to see. Check that there are no obstructions in the material before you fire nails in to it.

Cross grain.

A nail can become jammed when trying to find its way through the different grains of the two materials that you’re firing in to. Unfortunately there isn’t anything that can be done to prevent this.

Firing nails in to damp wooden materials.

When wood is damp, it becomes ‘bouncy’ which makes it harder to drive nails straight through it. Avoid firing nails in to damp wooden materials.

We Hope Our Paslode Nail Jam Guide Has Helped

We hope you’ve found our guide on how to unjam a Paslode nail gun helpful and you’ve been able to successfully clear the nail jam.
