Pipe cutters are used to cut a range of piping material, including plastic, iron, stainless steel, copper, brass and aluminium. These hand-tools consist of a curved jaw body, a cutting wheel and a knob.
The piping material is placed in between the jaws, then the knob is turned in order to secure the tube in place - this also moves the cutting wheel onto the surface of the material. The cutter is then rotated around the pipe by 360°, which leaves a slight cut around the outside of the material. The knob is then turned again to move the cutting wheel further into the material and the tool is rotated around the material by another 360°. This process is repeated until the material is cut in two.
