Random Orbit SanderRandom Orbital Sanders

A random orbital sander uses a circular sanding disc which has an elliptical orbit like a regular sander, however it also spins around a spindle at the same time. This means that the grit travels random paths, as opposed to repeating the same pattern and leaving the swirl marks which are commonly associated with other electric sanders.

What is a Random Orbital Sander?

A random orbital sander is generally used on wood and paint. This power tool provides rapid stock removal and leaves a finer finish than an orbital sander. It combines the speed and aggression of a belt sander, whilst being able to provide a scratch-free finish. This machine is not sensitive to the grain of the wood and wears sanding sheets down evenly which helps them last longer.

What Brands Does Kelvin Power Tools Stock?

We supply a range of high quality random orbital sanders from Bosch, Metabo and Festool in both 110V and 240V.

How do I Choose the Right Model?

It can be difficult to decide which random orbital sander best suits your needs. Here are a few things to consider when choosing from our Bosch, Metabo and Festool ranges:

  • Dust management: How effective is the dust extraction? Is there a dust bag or box included, or do you need to attach your own extractor?
  • Power vs desired finish: Which of these is more important or are they both important? If so, which sander provides the best combination of these elements?
  • Comfort and ease of use: What are the vibration levels and grip areas like? How easy is the machine to control?
